RHS course advice wanted...
in Talkback
Having spent most of my existance focusing on office based work, and failing miserably at any attempt to be green fingered. I am now 38, and after certain events in my life, I now have a garden and found a love for national trust sites in particular the gardens they have to offer. I have even grown plants / revived some plants from near death. In short, I want to ditch spreadsheets and my office existance and dream daily of being in the garden. In context I now plan / hope for a life working for national trust as a gardener. But sadly, I cannot find any RHS courses available, in my location, which could work around my day job. Any ideas / advice folks - B93 8AB location?? Many thanks from an amateur gardener hoping to develope professional green skills

I don't really have anywhere around me here so I am doing a course from home from the Horticultural College, here's a link -

Read and practice Richard. I've done horticultural courses some of it was useful and some not, mind you I'm getting on a bit, but I've read constantly used the web and been inquisitive and I'm still learning. There's always a plant I haven't grown or come across and if I don't know a p!ant I ask here, and this place is a gold mine. Accumulated knowledge is a God send. Plus when you come across a new plant/shrub don't just identify it learn how to prune and propagate it at the same time. It saves time and effort when the time comes. Having a qualification nowadays is important, its all some people will see, however experience beats a qualification hands down in all the work I do. It's a rewarding occupation so good on you for taking the opportunity.
