Ranuncula

I have never grown Ranuncula before so followed planting instructions.  I noticed they like well-draining soil and have planted in pots.  They were growing very well but we had a lot of rain and high winds so took into the greenhouse where they have been apparently quite happily for the last couple of months.  On checking today I was dismayed to find they are wilting quite badly.  I notice the compost is still quite wet although I have a paraffin heater on low to try and keep the air fairly dry.  Should I re-pot into drier compost?  Any ideas?
