spare a thought
At this time of year we should spare a thought for the poor b@@@@@s who work in supermarkets.
They have to listen to Christmas ditties all day long.
I believe this form of torture is used to break those involved in sieges.
It doesn't make me spend more; in fact, I forget what I went in for and exit asap
I leave my hearing raids at home this time of year, but I can still hear it.

Edd - I think I understand what you're on about, after reading it several times, but initially it looks like a personal attack on Verdun - don't think you meant that ...

It would drive me crazy.....
I have avoided our local GC this year. Last year you not only had 'holiday' songs on a permanent loop in the background but you also had to run the gamut of videos telling you about different tools etc, jiggling snowmen, laughing Father Christmases and nodding reindeer all saying 'Merry Christmas ho ho ho' - and all triggered by sensors as you walked by.
What a blooming' racket
Had to leave without making any purchases after 15 mins - I think you can probably get arrested for kicking snowmen & Father Christmas in the doodahs
Our local GC has a lovely Christmas shop, except for a 1.5 m Santa figurine that has a motion sensor and starts playing music (to use the term loosely) and songs as you walk past. I always give it a wide berth, but unfortunately there are lots of people triggering the music on purpose and even (shudder) admiring it. I do feel for the staff.
I actually like carols (or rather, wassailing music) but the way they are mangled in the recordings the shops play...
You can't smoke when there's reindeer around, that's why. Health and safety!
