Could someone please help me identify the large evergreen plant near my front door. It has leaves of green and russet red. Very fluid and free moving in the wind. I would like to know the name so I can investigate and find out about pruning and upkeep.

That could be a rather unhealthy photinia.
Could you take a photo from the other side please. That one doesn't show much detail.

The leaves look too long and thin for Photinia, but the colours are right. I would like to see a photo of the whole shrub.
Completely agree, looks like a very sickly Photinia but a photo of the whole bush might help a bit more.
Initially I thought it was a laurel looking at the foliage, but the description didn't match. I'd agree with BL - leaves seem far too fine to be Photinia, but the colours and description would suggest something like Photinia. The problem suggests it too!

Hi, Its a Dodonaea viscosa a member of the Soapberry family, Sapindaceae. It is fairly tender and needs protection in cold areas. Flowers are insignificant but the seed interesting. Plenty of information on the web.
Agree with Dononaea viscosum..probably purpurea.
