Even with the really dwarfing rootstocks? The instructions on my dwarf apple (M27 rootstock) said to allow a maximum of 6 apples in the first year.
I take it that the no fruit in the first year after planting rule means that even if I planted two-year-old trees (semi-dwarfing rootstocks) this autumn, I shouldn't allow them to fruit next year? (That's going to be very tough indeed!)
