It's a warm autumn, if it gets cold they'll slow down. Nothing you can do about it. They'll do what they do.

None of my bulbs are showing, except the muscari. I wouldn't expect the new ones to show, I only planted them last week
but where are all the old ones?
Maybe hiding under the weeds

Could I put some compost on top if it turns colder
They don't need protecting from the cold - they'll be fine as they're hardy spring-flowering bulbs which means that they grow during the winter. They'll be perfectly happy with frost, snow and anything the winter can throw at them

After planting bulbs in Autumn in compost ie tulips etc, does the compost not lose it's strength over the Winter with all the rain? Is it worth covering the pots with sheets until the weather improves?
The bulbs have all they need inside them tl. Feed them after flowering for next year

teamleader ; If the bulbs are new or were well fed when dying down last spring they should have enough energy stored in the bulbs. It might be worth protecting from the worst of the rain to stop them getting too wet and rotting.
Is it too late to plant them? I have 3 bags that I have just found
