If this all works ok I'll posting more requests for help!

But firstly a quick hello. I'm new to the whole garden thing, having been in my house just over a year. But it's fast becoming a passion! I'm mainly managing to ID plants from books, but some are tricky and so any guidance will be very gratefully received!

This one is a shrub of some sort i think. Lots of individual stalks though. Its pretty with purple leaves. I'm fairly sure it does produce flowers, but I can't remember if it has done so yet this year!

Anyone know what it is??

First thought it maybe a form of Persicaria but flower buds look the wrong shape. Could it be a type of fuchsia?

Could be Lysimachia ciliata fircracker. If so its a perennial with yellow flowers.

Wonderful, thank you both for the replies. I've looked them up and now I'm sure it's a lysimachia.
