I sometimes use empty snail shells to top off my canes to stop me poking my eye out!

Verdun, I am thinking that snail shells on canes are similar to heads on stakes, being a deterrent!  Every little helps as they say!  image  But in answer to your question, no it doesn't work image

You'll get us all in trouble Verdun!

I do enjoy seeing little bees in the garden: I'm sure anything that looks so busy must be doing something useful. I wonder how they convince the snails to move out (I rarely see snail shells in the garden that are empty: I've tried talking to the frogs about this but they deny all knowledge).
