Skimmer with pale blotchy leaves

Last year I bought 2 Skimmia plants and planted them in terracotta pots for the Winter. When I got them they were smothered with red berries. In the Spring I moved them to a more shaded place. No berries have been produced this year and the new leaves are pale and mottled. Please help!
I admit I forgot to feed them-what (organic) feed should I use?

Were they both female plants? If so they will not produce berries, without a male being present.

Thanks to you both for useful info. How would I know if female or male? I had not thought of this!
It is really something you need to ask when you buy them. There are some which have both male and female plants on the same plant, but most have separate male and female plants.
