  • Perhaps OP could strew thistle or teasel seeds over the area until the suggested holly, pyracantha etc come to fruition? The local goldfinches would love the resultant seedheads if the plants made it though the 'watering' season??

Or make a virtue out of necessity. Put your compost heap there and use the recycled beer as an accelerator.

    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • well, this has made me laugh... I love the idea of the electric fence and it would be hilarious to combine it with the 'shame' board!  I've had a look at a lot of the suggested solutions, and I have a plan... Pyracantha, and whilst it's growing the eryngium giganteum look stunning and are good and prickly.  Off to the GC tomorrow to see what I can pick up. I think I might be quite generous with some manure around the new plants, you know, to make sure they are warm enough in winter, not so that drunken bums trail it into their homes after using their usual stopping off point! image

Our native Dog rose has very spiny stems to discourage your unwelcome visitors, with the added value that it is quite fast growing and produces pretty flowers in summer and hips in the autumn and doesn't grow too big [about 6- 7 ft].
