Pumpkin

in Fruit & veg
Morning all
When is the latest time that pollination can occur to gaurantee that the fruit has enough time to do it's thing? My plant doesn't even have any flowers yet (it's about a foot tall and wide). Seed was sown last day of April. I liquid feed weekly. The courgettes are huge in comparison....... Getting worried

I wouldn't feed until you've got fruit setting.

Thanks Dove, will take that under advisement
When's the time that they HAVE to be pollinated by though?
No idea on timings but pumpkins are usually still growing well into the autumn - I wouldn't start stressing yet

Pumpkins and squash will keep growing until the first frost. However, pick all the fruit and bring indoors when the first frost is forecast as they won't keep once they get even a small frosting.
So, for example, if pollination occurs on, say, the last day of august, would the fruit have time?
There are too many variables (feeding, temperature, sunlight) to have any chance or giving a sensible answer to that - try not to get so hung up on dates as plants grow according to conditions, not calendars!
lol fair enough
Every year I grow pumpkins for halloween night, and I have to say...I'll be very lucky if these will be ready in time because we are 5 weeks behind on the gardener calendar - as a result, delayed planted them out. These need a long season to mature and lots of sun.
Fingers crossed !!
first time for me, marshmello. best of british to you
