Monty Don Programme Question

I thoroughly enjoyed Monty Don's 'Secret History of the British Garden' shown on BBC2 at 9pm on 22 November 2015

When he was visiting Rousham what was the name of the background soprano solo music sung at 12 minutes 24 seconds until 14 minutes from start of BBCi Player recording, please?

An amateur gardener for 50 years I also like choral music!

Thank you.

Best,

Ian14

I would like to know too. I know that piece so well, it's beautiful, but my mind has gone blank!

I have an app called Shazam which first said it was from Ave Maria but when I ran it again it said Handel's Rinaldo Act II Scene 4 Lascia Ch'io Pianga. It was hard to get a clear piece of music on iplayer without Monty's voice over it but maybe that will jog a memory for people that know more about music than I do.

    Hope that helps image

Highly recommend the Shazam app to those who don't have it. It listens to a piece of music, tells you what it is, who by, where to buy it and the lyrics as well for most modern music. Very useful image

  • Thanks to all who showed interest in this, I admit, rather vague connection to gardening. Special thanks to Daryl2 and other music lovers. Interesting what other interests we gardeners have!

Anybody else belong to the National Vegetable Society? It's not only for those growing for exhibition - growing for the table is also well catered for. The quarterly magazine has excellent articles and there are often interesting talks round the country on veg growing: recommended!

    Best wishes to all, Ian14
