Burrageara flowering cut short
Hello, I am hoping someone will be able to help me with this. I have a Burrageara Nelly Isler that has come into flower recently. According to general information about this plant, the flowering period should be about six weeks. But the flowers on my plant last barely 10 days.
It is in the living room on a low table with very large windows giving good indirect light. I mist my orchids twice a day and use the method recommended by Alan Titchmarsh to water them on a draining board or similar so the water can run off straight away (other advice I have read was to soak them for ten minutes once a week?!).
I have to admit my greatest, most reliable success in terms of orchids used to be to kill them almost without fail after two to three years in my ownership. Looking for advice then, I was warned I was probably overwatering them. Since then I have made the mistake of occasionally letting them get too dry. Of course, I could stick a finger into the substrate but I don’t like poking around too much so the roots do not become damaged and disturbed.
Can anyone deduce from that information what I might do wrong?
Many thanks; every tip will be much appreciated.
Tonio
