I think you need to trap them in something or they'll all blow around on nights like tonight.

There were two threads going on this subject not long ago. Consensus of opinion was that if they're in bags, leave them in there, possibly with holes to let in the rain and the beasties. If not, tip them into a 'bin' made of four posts with some chicken wire put round them.
You should get lovely leaf mould in a year or two.
If you only have a barrowful or two they can go in the compost heap, well mixed with the other stuff and preferably shredded first.

If there are not very many, stick them in the compost. They rot down quite quickly if you run the mower over them and pick them up all mashed up with the grass cuttings.
unless you really want "leafmould" I'd agree, mow them up along with grass clippings and it'll make fabulous compost.
