problem with my cherry tree

hi all ive had my cherry tree for about 5 years i when i bought it from wyvale i was told on the first and second year after i have planted it pick the cherrys off before they ripen just for the roots to grow better on the last 2 years i had about 5 cherrys growing there but birds got there before my but this year ive had hundreds of flowers which truned into small cherrys but ive noticed now they are turning brown and falling of the tree before the become ripe can anyone help or has anyone had this problem before.
