Need Help with my Avocado Plants

Hello everyone,

I started sprouting avocado seeds from store bought avocados around July (pictured below).

I'm looking for advice on when I should plant in soil completely.

I added some soil to the water as a transition to be potted later, however I am not sure when to pot it in soil completely.  Also the leaves are starting to turn very light in color and brown spots form eventually turning the leaf brown on the oldest plant, and I am not sure why.

As I am a beginner I do not know what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

((I am not sure why the images are rotating as I upload them))

    Hello Edd,

thank you so much for your reply!

If the soil in the water created bad bacteria, how should I clean the roots?

    Thanks!

My OH has two of these which she planted directly in pots of damp soil early last year.  One of them is in a 10litre pot and is about 1.5m height and the other, in a small pot has three stems, for reasons best known to itself.  I've had one or two germinate in the compost heap (obviously not hot enough in there).

Beware - left to their own devices they can grow to 10m or more in the ground!

I reckon planting in ordinary soil, perhaps with some garden compost mixed in, should provide enough helpful microbes to out-compete any baddies.  Maybe rinse the roots first if they're still in a liquid medium.

    Thanks Edd!

Will definitely give that a go.  I pinched out new leaves before, and it took so long for new leaves to reform... Its frightening, but I will give it another go once I pot it in soil!

That avocado is the first one, so it is my guinea pig, to try out and be the example to the other seeds I am sprouting!
