I agree punkdoc. Some people hate CCTV. I think if you are not doing anything wrong, whats the problem? People with hoodies up that are obviously avoiding cameras come under suspicion. I dont look at certain sites, or send dubious emails inciting terror. I would rather the security services can check out the terrorists. I feel safer knowing everone is scanned going through an airport. My underwater camera gear regularly gets swabbed because it is unusual. I allow extra time for the airport.
I do think that if that had happened in a UK city, we do not have the hospital capacity to cope, nor enough police and army to put on the streets as fast as the French did. The curfew to clear the streets to allow security services and emergency vehicles to get through worked. I wonder if it would here?
I apologise if I'm wrong Verd, but I think BL means that young people have had their futures taken from them. That's what's so sad. At least the older ones among us have had the chance to make our successes and mistakes.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
That's right Fairygirl, that's what I meant. They had their futures before them, their future children or their young children left without parents, their careers, their hopes, successes and failures. At least when I die I will have lived, but hopefully it won't be for some time.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
But parents of children are young compared with a lot of us - I think that the reference was to older people, not people in their 20/30/40s - of course their loss is going to affect children.

I'm sure they were, and my heart goes out to them and those that love them.

I fear it'll get worse before it gets better.
I hope it doesn't spread, quite terrifying. So many victims were young
