Always wanted both Verdun. Did have delphiniums one year and no show the next, wasn't vigilant enough when they came through, think they were eaten.  Only seen lupins close up once and had what seemed to be huge greenfly on, but as you say easy to get off. I think I'm still remembering what I was told as a child, such as wallflowers encourage club root into your garden, broad beans encourage black fly and other such stories from the 60's. ..Is there a thread there ??? image

This is the first year I've really grown / planted annuals and smaller plants, have been a veg' and perennial grower. Now really enjoying the growing of new things. Have had to put a book at side of computer to note down what I want, what to do when, and what I want building, names of things that the forum members have identified hoping I will learn them image

Soz Janet rambled on when your post was about lupins.image

Thanks for the kind comments the lupins are in there second year now last year being nothing like this year they have about 10 flowering spikes on them they ........the delphiniums growing alongside are about to flower and look like putting on a nice display still does not make up for the demise of my 12 year old Japanese acer which is now cut down to the stump with 2 buds slowly growing again.
