Hellebore

wanting to get a couple of hellebore plants but not sure when would be the best time to buy them and plant them. I thought maybe around now but works about these high winds.  Can anyone advise? Thank you.

  • { love hellebores and have found that what I have grow better in large, wide top containers. The large leaves last longer and the plants multiply very well. I must say my garden soil is pretty awful..Otherwise I agree that in the ground they do love to grow in the shelter of bushes and trees. MG.

Most GCs will have a few of the popular varieties as Verdun mentions, and decent nurseries will have plenty, if you're lucky enough to be near one.

The only 'rule' re planting is - not in waterlogged ground or when the ground's frozen. image

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
