Good plants for pots on decking?

Hi All Newbie gardener here - just looking for some recommendations on plants that do well in planters/pots? Looking to add some interest to a decking area in the garden. Ideal candidates will be easy to care for, with year round interest, maybe a couple of bigger things that would ultimately reach 1.5m or so and a couple of smaller things to go around it. Open to all suggestions Thanks!
