Hi

I moved to a new house with a wonderful big garden with this tree in the middle of it. No clue what it could be!

I think I remember some sort of blossom on it a few months ago but have been concentrating more on the house than the garden so far, sorry I'm useless!

Any ideas? thanks in advance

...I wouldn't like a tree like that at all... I prefer one I can actually seeimage

Did the blossom result in any fruit?

  • Hi- no it didn't. Although I do have 3 young apple trees I think in the garden also planted by the previous owners.

...leaves look apple-ish... is that a scion or graft I can see near the base..? correctly about 4 inches above soil level...   perhaps no fruit this year due to cold weather - lack of bees at pollination time maybe...?... April/May was a worrying time for fruit growers generally...

Something about it says damson to me - but I don't suppose we'll know until next year - and that's only if it fruits.

  • The blossom was very similar to the blossom on the other 'apple' trees in the garden but this tree lost the blossom ages ago.

will take photos of the other trees I think are apples tomorrow

    thanks for your replies
