Geranium over winter

im sure they were just small left in pots outside when i moved house last spring

is it recommended to lift them and store, cut very short and keep in garage maybe, with light but away from frosts

or just take some cuttings?

i have 3 medium sized that are still flowering now

Light and no frost is what they need, Marc.

I'd trim off all the dead leaves and flowers and put them in a cold/cool greenhouse if you have one.  Failing that, next to a window in a garage or a windowsill in a cold room in the house.  Very little water.

They're supposed to be easy to root from cuttings but I've only had limited success with it at this time of year.  Having said that, my grandfather used to do dozens of them every year.

Btw, I assume you mean zonal-leaved Pelargonium, which is what we often mean by 'geranium'.  If not, you can ignore the foregoing, as it's complete tripe).

  • well nothing is dead yet and still flowering but yes i thought to cut down and put in garage at window with all the other stuff i have growing
