Long Grass

Hi all, I've left areas of long grass in my garden (it looked a lot better in the summer!) for wildlife, wild plants and for ease of maintenance, but I'm not sure when, or if I should cut it, if I cut it in now, will I disturb anything that's over wintering in the grass?

Many thanks for you advice image

We've only just finished cutting some of ours, it looks a bit of a mess. Ideally we like to cut before it gets saturated.

I'd cut that but see what others think.

Long grass should ideally be cut in perhaps July/August. When the seeds of wild flowers have matured and fallen. If you are going for a wild-flower area the grass should be raked off so the fertility of the patch is not increased.
