Should bulbs be stored dry or in soil?

Depends what sort. Daffs and tulips can be stored dry. Snowdrops don't like being dried out so should stay in the soil, or be replanted a.s.a.p.

Thanks, fidgetbones for your prompt reply!  What about Alliums - dry or soil?

I leave my alliums in the soil, but I think they store dry quite well.
