Drat those chains.....

VerdunVerdun Posts: 23,348

had a number of plants to go out but waiting to find the "perfect" home for one of them.  When I did the rest in that "chain" could go in their designated spots.  Today....perfect blue sky and sun now....I planted out that chain.  (Must have been all that rain that cleared my brain image)   Chuffed!  Perfect.  image

Now,,however, I have a new chain but again cannot ...yet... locate a position for one of them image

one of the issues is colour.  I have a number of white perennials but, of course, they need to be isolated.  On their own most whites are fine but near each other one will make the other look drab.

What "chains" do you have to hold up your planting? Or  don't you have such fastidious tendencies? image

I've got a chain that's been waiting since early summer Verd image

I blame the purple Hellebore - it started flowering again so I thought I'd wait. I've waited....and waited....and waited.... It's finished now, but the weather's not been favourable and other things have taken precedence image

philippa - I grew sweet pea Cathy and loved the scent - really powerful. From a distance, a lovely cream. Close up - muddy. Did the same as you, grew them further from the house!

I find white really difficult to use. I have a small bed with a Crab Apple and a contorted Hazel in it and decided to make it into a small white bed. I eventually got something I liked, by using different coloured leaves, off whites, whites with yellow centres, but mainly by having lots of green to show off the white.

Agree about chains, have to write a list of what is going where and then the order in which they will be moved. It usually gets complicated when I decide to divide some of them whilst moving and end up with lots of extra bits.

No digging for me at the moment, so maybe have to wait till Spring.
