Are these vigorous and aggressive everywhere or just in your tropical paradise? My friend is in Shetland which may be a little different.

Sorry not to comment earlier but was tied up with the lack of photo issue
Hedychiums at Trebah seemed to be rampant in permanent planting. Here in the Midlands, i keep them in a frost free greenhouse on the dry side in winter. Left outside in the soil they die.

Some are more hardy than others but in Shetland I cant see them being very aggressive. ( Well, unless they vote SNP of course )
