SOIL STERILISATION

Does anybody know if the practice of sterilising soil with dilute Jeyes fluid is still a recommended way of eliminating fungal spores in a small area of soil.  Unfortunately this spread to my adjacent lawn causing snow mould.  Will Jeyes fluid stay in the soil and affect planting there next year?

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Having googled it it seems the more accepted approach seems to go down the organic route. Proper lawn care regimes and appropriate feeding at the correct times. Garlic drenches and neem oil applications. Some try moss killers as well.

Being as more people are going in the organic route it does make sense to try those treatments first. Chemicals often cause more damage in the long run and good soil health is essential for good plant growth.

Lawns are often where these options clash but I find personally good lawn care in the first place means there is nothing more to do than feed it twice a year.

Thanks Dave, I do have Green Thumb regularly applying their weed and feed programmes which work well, but this fungus has appeared since their last treatment.

When digging up spent annuals close to the grass edge I found the soil very dusty and white underneath which I presumed was the cause and made me think of fungus as I had removed some large 'mushrooms' from here earlier in the season.  I have some sulphate of iron in the shed so I shall try that in the first instance, grhhh!
