Learnt more from my mum, who was a brilliant and very knowledgeable gardener. She spend every free moment she could in her beautiful garden.........poor dad is trying his hardest to keep it looking good. He has had to hire a gardener to help keep it in order, he is 90 yrs old and its just too big for him to cope with now.I help him out too with it and love finding all the little gems and displays that mum planted out, its as if she is still with us.
Like g steve said, I too wish I had taken it up more seriously at an early age, although I always kept a nice garden it was was an area well and truly loved and used by many, many children ( my own and work related ones) for the past 30 yrs.......but not now.....until we get grandchildren !!!!
All I wish is that I could afford to stop renting, buy my own house and finally have full control over my garden! Luckily our landlord has said I can do what I want except for digging up the lawn, however this does take up most of the garden and it is a rather teeny garden, *sigh* one day I'l have my own garden lol
I feel I got the basic design right but things keep changing anyway
Biggest changes was a concervartory on the side of the house and a greenhouse both done by local builders but not until I retired from full time work , so,I could enjoy them
in fact been in garden this morning very pleased with it

I would have had a windy path layed leading to the bottom of the instead of the straight one that is so rigid.....
I wouldn't have listened when the words "low maintenance" were mentioned!
