kiwi in veg bed or container?

hi,
I've just received my Hardy Kiwi per post and it needs to be planted asap. Question: Do I plant it straight in my 2x4 m raised veg bed or would its root growth ruin any chance of other veg growing in there and I'd be better off putting it in a container? in both cases it would go at the bottom of a south facing wall next to an espaliered apple.

Never grown one myself, but from what I've read this will need a bit of space so I wouldn't put it in your raised veg bed, however I would think it will need a pretty large pot. Everything I read also talks about training it laterally , so it'll take quite a bit of wall space.
Maybe someone on here has grown one and has more knowledge than I do ....
