Capillary Matting.

Has anyone had any experience of using capillary matting? I have recently started using it, so as to reduce the effort of regular watering of containers. Does it make any difference whether the end which is in water should be above the level of the plant container, or doesn't it make any difference?

It doesn't make any difference. The wick is connected to the mat which should be underneath the plant pots. The wick will continue to saturate the matting as long as there is a supply of water to it. Everyhing else is irrelevant.

Does the matting news to be in a tray of sorts or can it just be layer on the ground?
