Late hibernation this year, we just had a bat join us in the sitting room. Yet to work out where it came in.

    I'd love to have hedgehogsimage

We'll have a look round for holes in the plasterboard tomorrow Jo. This house is all wood with beams but not old and gappy.

About 15 years ago, when we lived in a near inner city area of Manchester the back door was left open one summer night. Everyone but me had gone to bed and I dozed off whilst reading in a chair. Suddenly caught movement from the corner of my eye, couldn't believe it, hedgehog walking through the dining room. He/she was gently escorted off the premises, everyone very jealous next morning.

  • We've been feeding one for a while now, our golden retriever on his last evening wee goes straight to (Henry)were ever he is in the garden.image

  • Been feeding two hogs for about a month now and they are huge. Still very mild so I don't expect them to hibernate just yet but I have hog houses and bedding ready anyway. We used to see some every year but haven't for the last 4 or 5 so hoping this is a sigh of a healthy local population. Found a baby weighing only 120grms so brought it in to the warmth, gave it some water and cat food and 'phoned the SSPCA who arrived to take it to their wildlife rescue centre at Fishcross.
  • Cat food should be meat and not fish based too.
