My fuchsias have only just succumbed to rust, as they almost always do this time of the year. I dont prune them now, just strip off all the leaves,make sure they are all of the compost, give a spray of anti fungal, they come back fine next year.

I also cut mine back by a third, if you can keep them above 5 degrees they will put on growth during the winter and give you an early start next year especially for cuttings.
Thanks for advice everyone - I think I have done something from all - I have taken off all the leaves, and binned not composted, I have cut them down to a bit below a third as I wanted to reduce the size of some of them and I have given them all a thick mulch.
I planted a climbing fuchsia last year which, even now, looks lovely growing up a trellis, no rust and cuttings take very easily. I would highly recommend it.
