Thanks for all the further ideas. Many of the "sprinkle" ideas obviously involve ongoing costs and work; many of the cheap ones like orange peel, holly, pyrocantha are not going to be very pretty and will need renewing, so that's work too.

But if the new ultrasonic (with mains adapter) doesn't work, I'll just have to try some of the other ideas!

The Taliban have some inovative ideas about I.E.D.'s and dealing with Cat Ass Trophies !

  • Has nobody else tried moth balls?

Tried 'em, but they have the impact of a dum dum bullet when fired too hard

at the cat !! Good for a scatter effect tho' !

  • Whatever you do please DON'T do what my neighbour did.......she embedded broken bottles in the soil!! Not only dangerous to mine & other people's cats but also to wildlife.    My cats were not actually toiletting in her garden.....only passing through or sunning themselves.

Out of interest, do the ultrasonic devices work round the full 360 degrees & how far away would it take effect?

my god angela, your neighbour sounds horrendous, it is annoying but not worth causing serious harm!!

I've got a really scaredy cat, she only poops in my garden, I'm glad tho, I've got lovely neighbours and would hate that to change. She goes next door but their rabbit chases her back to mine again - embarrassing.

In the past I have found that it is only strong smells that put them off, pepper, garlic, chopped onions etc not nice to sit with that aroma tho
