Unknown shrub
Hi,
I'm just wondering what this shrub is? It really needs pruning but without knowing what it is, I can't look up any information on how/when to do it! I'd hate to prune it wrongly and so not get any flowers on it next year (or even worse, kill it!)

Weigela, I agree.
Definitely looks like Weigela Bodj, prune it straight after flowering. Remove any dead, disease or damaged wood. If it is very congested cut out some of the oldest stems at the base (about 1 in 3 stems generally), then trim the remaining stems back by about a third to half depending on how big you want to leave it.
Excellent, three people agreeing about it is more than good enough for me! I shall prune it after it flowers then.
