It's such a shame that these beautiful birds are seen as 'fair game'. On my walk this morning a pheasant was making an alarm call - every little bird scurried/flew off and then I spotted the buzzard on the wire
Lesley i had a look through my game diaries that i kept when i was keepering. i'm pretty sure it was a territorial dispute basically a raptor telling the geese to b***er off. The most likely culprit would be a red kite as they are very territorial they are breeding really well in Scotland and spreading quite quickly. Keep an eye out you may well get a good ID if you see it at a lower height.
Thanks Bushman. I find myself scouring the skies every time I go out now but haven't seen a red kite yet. We went to Crieff a few years ago and the sight of numerous red kites flying around the hills there was breathtaking.
