Perhaps a hand held tool to help with cleaning the hard to reach bits of a greenhouse. Something like an electric toothbrush with changable heads to get where the glass joins the frame and it gets full of moss and debris. As well as cleaning, it would be handy if it could be designed to suck out the debris too.
Or something that cleans pencil off plant labels (sorry I'm having a brain-fart and can't think of the right word for plant labels!! But hopefully you know what I mean!).
Or something that cleans the green slimy stuff from watering can heads that blocks them up.
Thank you so much for all your responses, we really appreciate it.
We'll give all your ideas some further thought, and we'll try and get some basic designs down for them too. It's really helpful for us to get some insight into what real gardeners struggle with.
Whilst we don't have time to go and volunteer, as some of you have suggested, as our project turn around time is too tight, we are in the process of speaking to our facilities management.
If you have any more ideas please keep posting, the more the better from our point of view.
How about something like an electric carving knife that could be used to cut the turf away that grows over the edge of paving stones set into the lawn? It's really difficult to do with a standard edging tool.
Hi, the job I dread in the garden is aerating the lawn with the fork as I have weak wrists and the aim is to penetrate the ground a few inches depth to improve drainage and general condition of the lawn. There is a roller device that has spikes which is not powered but I'm wondering if you could develop something that is smaller for those with limited storage? best of luck with what ever you decide upon

Something that churns the compost head too.

Sorry, that should say compost heap!
I'll second that!
Tootles could do with something to churn the compost head too!
Maybe an electric hair brush for post-windy-days in the garden!!

WW, how about an electric pogo stick with Bodicea type blades for stabbing the lawn?
Ooh, love the idea of a spiked pogo stick! Sounds like great fun
Steve
think you may have done the bulk of the work for the students now! Let's see the prototype!
