I saw one close up many years ago that was lodged in a tree beside a path.

In the sticks near Peterborough
get a bee hive, they came to my Garden because they smelt the wax (according to the guy who looks after them and is teaching me to) he also said they're probably wild because they didn't come from my hive as there were far too many of them, and my bees were going about their business as normal. They were surprisingly calm, only just fit into that blue box, they've been re-homed in an archard now, it was amazing to watch them make a hive.
...I walked right under one of these this evening... in a nearby car park which is bordered by many large trees, and close to a footpath, dangling at the end of a branch of a tree, just a few feet above where I was walking, I caught sight of it... I stood in awe watching it for a few moments before moving quickly away... I do hope it doesn't get disturbed but it is dangerously close to the path and so many people are going to be walking right under it, just as I did... I've never seen anything like it before...
