Hi, I grow about 6 different types of mint in pots, should i bring them into the greenhouse over the winter?

Mint It will usually die right down over the winter and reappear in the spring, which is when I repot it in fresh loam-based compost.  JI No 3 mixed with some topsoil is what I use - if you want access to fresh mint for cooking then take the pot into the greenhouse for the winter, otherwise they'll be fine outside but you might want to protect the pots from the frost if they're ceramic/terracotta.

  • Thank you for your reply. I will leave them outside then, would some fleece be enpugh to protect the pots?

I usually wrap my good pots in bubble-wrap and raise them off the ground on bricks or pot feet so that they drain properly and don't fill with water and freeze solid.

  • Good idea! Will my kichen windowsill be a good place to keep it?
