Trying to do some autumn tidying today and found this fella, never noticed it before. It's about 3 foot tall and the same width but was hiding under a fine scrambling shrub I have just cut back. It looks as if it about to lose it's leaves.
So is it a weed or a 'real' plant and if so what should I do with it?
Thanks in anticipation as always.

I get a lot of those popping up randomly in my Languedoc garden - definitely a weed with a longish tough root. Where most things need TLC this just appears and thrives regardless.
Please let me know if you discover something to the contrary...
Thank you GG, I will take appropriate action.
I'm sure it wasn't there earlier in the year so obviously quite vigorous.
