What's been eating the rhubarb?

image

What do you think would make this sort of scratchy mark on our rhubarb? There's only a few sticks with it on, I'm hoping whatever it is tried it & decided it didn't like it! I just wanted to make sure it's not a mammal's doing...? Thanks for any ideas xx

    Is it a slug/snail?

  • Not sure- there are nibbIes out of the leaves, but they look different than slug or snail. Are these the sorts of marks that they make? Only I've never seen anything that's been 'tried' by them before: only leaf munching!!

Slugs do that on our rhubarb.   You can just cut out that part of the stem when you come to eat it.
