Thanks for the replies. I've got some better pics now which hopefully is easier to see. I can't see any berries on the tree at all so I'm confused as all the pics online of sorbus seem to have them.
Thanks everyone for IDing it for me. It's a lovely tree, it would be awful if it got the chalara infection! I might ask the owners for a cutting if I ever see them, I guess it can't hurt to have a backup if ever the worst happened to it.

That looks like an ash of some sort to me - possibly Fraxinus angustifolia "Raywood"
http://www.deepdale-trees.co.uk/trees/2012/10-Fraxinus-Raywood.html - one of my favourite trees, but you can't buy them at the moment - they're covered by the embargo on the movement of ash trees because of Chalara outbreak.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
