Little Scarlet
Being intrigued for some time by the strawberry variety 'Little Scarlet', I bought a 340g jar of jam made from them earlier this week, by 'Tiptree'......costing £3.99 from the SM. Prices fluctuate widely on the net, ranging from £9.99 on ebay, to £7.43 from Amazon.
Anyway, bit of an indulgence, but every bit as delish as you would expect.

Tiptree jam is always lovely. I like their tiny tip raspberry.
So now to grow them and make our own jam?
Not beyond the realms of possibility for yours truly, Steve.
Kore Wild Fruit Nursery has already sold out of plants after the TV programme Harvest 2015.
No more until Spring.
Orange and tangerine marmalade is good too
...but harder to grow the fruit here...
I have made strawberry jam this year - no idea what variety but pink flowers and delicious - as well as raspberry, redcurrant, spiced blackcurrant, purple gooseberry and rhubarb and vanilla jam. All very well but we don't eat much bread..........
Then there's Bengal chutney, beetroot relish, rhubarb chutney and chilli jam. All great with cheese or sausages.
Eat all sugary foods whilst standing up. The calories consumed to enable you to remain upright will counteract any harmful effects on waistline etc.

WHAT!!! eating sugar, BIG FAT BORIS will have you in the Tower for that horrendous crime!
At least Dave boy doesn't favour a sugar tax,(about the only thing he does or would not tax).
Ps. As Tesco was supposed to stock the jam, my wife who likes sickly things was off like a flash but they had never heard of it!
She will have to eat our own home made strawberry jam (Florence strawberries) which is very sweet!
Blackcurrant jam is yummiest, I think
