Dying fir tree

My lovely fir tree has started going brown from the inside out. All of the needles are starting to drop. I'm absolutely clueless as am just about to start on the garden as my first ever gardening project! We overturned all the lawn this year and levelled it to create a hardcore base for the shed, there's now no lawn, could this have upset it?

it's perfectly normal for the older needles to fall. Have patience and see how it pans out.

  • Ah ok, even the ones at the top of the tree? We have had the garden 2.5 years and this is the first time it's happened. It's revelling against Christmas I think!

IMHO , if it was really poorly , the tips would be worst. if it's the stuff in the middle, I'd not worry, not yet anyway. image

I'm in France and there is a water born bacteria that is killing large numbers of a certain types of pine trees. They go rusty, then brown. It seems to affect groups of them though so maybe cast your eye about locally and see if any others are in a similar state.

  • Will take a look thank you Enkay!
