Acer palmatum

Hello I went to Wisley on Sunday the trees were amazing , i came home with an Acer palmatum which was very expensive.  I want to take some cuttings from it. Also my neighbour has some deep red ones which I have permission to take cuttings from too. Has anyone any idea how to do it please. Thanks

Not done it myself with acers, but the RHS recommends taking softwood cuttings in the spring.

I think they are a bit hard to take cuttings from , but I have a nice brilliant red show from mine at the moment and would love to try

saw an article on GW, I think, and they graft theirs. Might explain whey they're so pricey although  I bought 2 for £3 each at Waitrose last year as the leaves were falling.
