PROBLEM WITH MY BASIL?

I grow my basil in the poly tunnel and for a few years I have had good success with a lovely y quantity  that I use for my pasta cooking and especially for making my own pesto.

This year I don't know whats causing it, but I  have had to discard so many of my basil leaves as they have a silver like colouring on the underside of the leaves.

Perhaps there is nothing wrong with this and the leaves can be used, but I have aired on the side of caution. Nevertheless, is there anybody on the forum who may know what causes this and/or where I maybe going wrong?

Your advice would be appreciated.

That's one of your worst jokes yet Verd image image

Is it uniformly silvery Mark, or a trail of silvery threads which could be leaf miner?

The weather has been difficult this year too, so I'm wondering if it could be a dampness issue - poor air flow, especially if you have lots of planting, and it's causing a mould of some kind? Basil's usually quite trouble free in the pest department, but wet is certainly a big enemy.

I'm sure someone else can offer further advice or suggestions though image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • The leaves look fine on top, its just on the underside!

Its not the remnants of slugs or snails.

    Any more suggestions?
