Delphinium flowering late again!

I have a delphinium guinevere, which for the two years I've had it, has only come into flower now, late October....and the leaves are already turning and falling. The flowers are very small. It is in a south facing border. Anything I can do to improve this next year??

You could cut the flower off, it's using energy to flower, then the plant may grow stronger roots, it will come good, probably next year.  Trickle a bit of bone meal around it next Spring.

It is funny, the dropping petals look like an aconitum's!
