Unidentified Spider

image

Montrose, Angus

In the greenhouse, under a pot keeping a slug company!  He/she is about 2cm long and the legs are redder than they look in the pic.  Can anyone tell me what sort of spider this is and is it friendly to my garden...not to mention me!?

Grateful for any information.

Thanks.

  • Wow! That was fast. Thank so much. I've had a look at the link you sent and I will remember not to move him on using my finger!  I've never come across him before.  Appartently it eats woodlice - are theygood or bad for the garden?  I am a new amateur gardener and obviously have lots to learn.  image

All spiders are carnivores so don't eat plants.  In my book that makes them good for the garden.image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
