    As big a rootball as possible is the key. You may lose some things, but the ones which survive and grow on will bring you even more pleasure under the circumstances. image

    If you lose some plants which you particularly liked, there's the Seed and Plant Swap thread on the forum  - so you might be able to get some new bits and pieces for next to nothing image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Thanks for all the encouragement. I feel I have nothing to lose and it does seem to be a good time of year to be digging things up. New border was only planted last year so I am guessing the root systems should be manageable and I will just have to try the others - if it seems too big a job will just have to leave them. Even the mature ones have only been in four years so fingers crossed. I will let you know how it all works out.
