pine trees dying

hello everyone,

these pine trees are used as a fence, but they are start turning brown first inside then spreads to outside and unfortunately some already died. So, even though they look green there are some death branches. It looks like little white dots on dead pieces but I am not sure if this is a fungus problem. However I think the problem is occurred because of lack of air circulation.

for a start they're not pines, they look like Cyprus, most likely leylandii.

could be fungus, virus or aphid damage but i'm sure someone else will know conifer problems better than me!

  • the bark was wet and it was a rainy day. I touched that and I dont think it is resin.

  • Agree with the above more of a disease problem. Canker is quite common in conifers

  • yes
