Torbay parks

Just back from a couple of lovely days hols image and the roundabout beds and others  in Torquay and paington had yellow flowers poss pot marigolds with tall stems with mauve flowers on the top growing up through them  any ideas at what they could be ? I was on the topdeck of the bus so couldn't get a closer look (possibly wouldn't have made any difference to whether I could name them image)

You could try that with the Verbena - no need with the cosmos, sow them in the spring.

  • I live in that area, and yes, there are wonderful displays of Verbena Bonariensis on roundabouts in Totnes and Paignton. The Totnes one is underplanted with soft grasses and those blue thistles (can't remember the name) and they look fabulous.

  • That sounds marvellous green magpie perhaps I'll have a go at both planting ideas  one bed totnes and the other paignton image
